This large Siberian Elm bowl was made from the dark heartwood of the tree.  Elm is a durable and shock resistant wood that has nice grain lines.

The bowl is 14-1/4" diameter and 5" deep. The rim is 7/8" wide and is undercut slightly.  The walls taper down to a bit less than 1/2" thick. Even though this is a large bowl, the weight is perfect - not too heavy, and not too light.
