A stunning Silver Maple bowl made from an urban tree that was being removed. What catches your eye are the striking Bloodwood butterfly inlay patches that provide a visual contrast against the lighter colored Maple.
While shaping this bowl I uncovered a couple of fine cracks that occurred during the drying process. Once the wood had dried the cracks stopped, but the butterfly patches serve to reinforce and stabilize the cracks. The bowl is functional and artistic.
This is a big bowl, measuring 14-3/8" in diameter and 6" deep.
